Over the years, we have seen an increase in the income we receive from gifts that are left in wills. We are very grateful for every legacy we receive, be it large or small.

Legacies are special gifts from supporters who help to secure the charity’s future. Each one is a lasting memory of someone special who cared about our work. For many of us, the thought of preparing a will is something we’d rather not think about and even the legal terms (legacy, bequest, codicil) can be off-putting. However, the process is fairly straightforward and can be a big relief when satisfactorily completed. We always recommend that supporters consult a solicitor to help them draw up their will and of course make sure that their family and loved ones are provided for first, before thinking of the charity.

You may have already prepared a will but not thought about leaving a gift to Dorset and Somerset Air Ambulance. Should this be something that you are considering, the process simply involves including your additional wishes in a separate document called a codicil.
Leaving a gift in your will is a very personal thing and something we all need to take time to consider. For some, the content of their will is a very private matter, whereas others like to talk to us about it and find out more about the charity in the process. Advising us of your future intentions means that we can make sure we keep you up to date with our latest news and developments, while it also helps us plan for the future.

Over the last 20 years, with fantastic support from the public, we have been able to achieve so much. You have helped us become one of the most innovative, highly regarded and clinically excellent air ambulance services in the UK. We are now looking further ahead and asking you to think about securing the future of our service for the next generation to come. Hopefully you don’t mind us giving you something to consider!
