We were delighted to hear the news yesterday that Hannah Nobbs, one of our trustees has been awarded a prestigious British Women Pilots' Association Flying High Scholarship. There were 11 different scholarships on offer and over 100 women from across the UK applied. They were shortlisted by a panel of judges who determined who showed the most promise for their future flying. Three, including Hannah, were awarded the Flying High Financial Scholarship which is a for licensed pilots who wish to gain further qualifications.

Hannah has been associated with the charity since 2014, both in the form of a volunteer and in her current role as a trustee. She spent ten years as an engineer for AgustaWestland and was involved in the development of the AW169 and AW189 helicopters. Hannah now works for the Civil Aviation Authority as an airworthiness policy specialist for Commercial SpaceFlight.

She will be using the scholarship to help fund her helicopter multi-engine instrument training. Her ultimate dream is to combine being an engineer with flying as an air ambulance or coastguard pilot! Congratulations from everyone at DSAA on this fantastic achievement.
