Saffron Hartley braved a 10,000ft tandem skydive in aid of DSAA and shares her experience with us…

I was booked in at GoSkydive today to do a 10,000ft tandem skydive. It was cold, really really cold and I don't even know where to begin with listing the emotions I was feeling; excited, nervous, even a little bit scared, but happy too. It's true what they tell you at the introduction - nothing can prepare you for what you're about to do!

It was a truly amazing experience and I'm so glad that I chose to raise money for Dorset and Somerset Air Ambulance. Thus far, I’ve raised £370 and hope that it will benefit the team.

When you meet your skydive instructor, you film your 'pre-jump' video and tell them why you're doing it; I even wore my DSAA top over my jumpsuit as you can see in the photographs!

I have to admit, the worst part was definitely 100% going up in that plane. I confess, 10,000ft was a lot higher than what I was expecting.

They filmed a bit inside the aircraft (which I look terrified throughout) and then it was time to jump! Your instructor bum-shuffles you to the side of the plane, your photographer jumps out and before you know it, you're free-falling at 120mph above and through the clouds. They also record your landing and I was   chuffed that it went so smoothly!

Although it was incredibly fun and I will be doing it again, I cannot tell you how glad I was to land on the ground and see all the other people pumped with an insane amount of pride and adrenaline.
