Dorset and Somerset Air Ambulance (DSAA) provides life-saving, pre-hospital critical care to those in urgent need. As a vital part of the community across Dorset and Somerset, they rely almost entirely on public donations to keep flying.

I have chosen to support DSAA as I take on what for me is the massive challenge of cycling the length of the country. Many of the small or remote communities I pass through will have depended on an air ambulance, as rural locations often have limited road access in emergencies.

Living in South Somerset, I have seen the essential role DSAA plays, with their helicopter responding to incidents nearby and on two occasions landing right behind our home. It’s reassuring to know they’re there when needed, yet shocking to learn that 95% of their funding comes from charitable giving. Last year alone, DSAA was tasked with over 2,900 missions, each costing approximately £3,500.

Thankfully, so far, I have never needed to call on their exceptional crew, but by keeping my legs turning for two weeks, I hope to help ensure this life-saving service continues for those who do.

Please join me in supporting Dorset and Somerset Air Ambulance—every donation makes a difference. Together, we can help keep them in the air for those who need them most.
