Our clinical team attended a fantastic training day at our airbase earlier this month, which focussed on the topic of ultrasound.

Several ultrasound experts were invited to teach and assess our clinical team, which provided a great level of learning experience for everyone involved. A range of equipment demonstrations and simulation exercises also took place during the day, which were hugely beneficial to the team’s ongoing development.

We would like to say a massive thank you to everyone who helped to make the day such a success including: Mindray, Enhanced Care Services, GE Healthcare and Fujifilm Sonosite for enabling us to use their equipment; the paramedic students from Bournemouth University and University of Bristol, DSAA volunteers, DSAA clinicians’ relatives and SimComm Academy staff who volunteered their time to help as ‘patients’ for the equipment demonstrations and simulation exercises; to Lily Stanley - PHEM trainee / EM trainee at Thames Valley Air Ambulance; Geoff Jarvis at Henstridge Airfield for providing catering; and finally to Steve Savage - Consultant Sonographer at Yeovil District Hospital and Paul Baines - Consultant in Emergency Medicine at Musgrove Park Hospital, who have been exceptionally supportive of DSAA and ultrasound practice.
