We pride ourselves on having an outstanding air ambulance emergency service. Our team of highly trained paramedics and pilots use their knowledge, skill and cheerful enthusiasm to save lives every day.
With no direct Government or National Lottery funding, we rely on the generosity of the public to help us raise the £1.4 million a year it costs to keep flying. On average, we attend 3-4 incidents a day, many of them life-saving, however during the summer months this can significantly increase.
We regularly attend incidents where a patients life is in danger, where access by land is limited and we are often needed to transfer a patient from one hospital to another. In most cases, we can be anywhere within the two counties in under 20 minutes of an emergency call.
Every one of the missions we fly is the result of somebody suffering a potentially life-threatening injury or accident. In 2011, we attended 665 incidents of which 108 involved minors (under 16). This clearly demonstrates the need for an Air Ambulance that serves Dorset and Somerset.

ON A SAD NOTE: It is with great sadness that we annouce that Gwen Pattle, a much loved member of our team has passed away. Gwen was a long standing Dorset and Somerset Air Ambulance volunteer in and around the Dorchester Area and our thoughts are with her family and friends at this time.
