Thank you for visiting the home of the Dorset and Somerset Air Ambulance
Many people STILL do not realise that we receive no direct funding from the Government or the National Lottery and we rely solely on the generosity of the general public to help us raise the £1.4 million a year it costs to keep flying.
We pride ourselves on having an outstanding air ambulance emergency service. Our team of highly trained paramedics and pilots use their knowledge, skill and cheerful enthusiasm to save lives every day.
Without the, drive and dedication of our staff and volunteers and, the amazing support of you the general public, the Dorset and Somerset Air Ambulance would not survive.
We would like to thank everyone that has taken part this year in our two major events. Firstly our very first C2C cycle challenge held in June. This was a huge success! In total, approximately 12,000 miles were covered in 8 hours. That’s the equivalent to cycling half-way around the world and what more £33,000 was raised in sponsorship. This year’s date has now been confirmed as Sunday May 20th 2012 and we hope to see many of you there.
Secondly for all those that turned out for our third successive Trickey Warren Trek on Sunday 18th September. Once again hundreds of you put your best foot forward and took part. The success of our new and more challenging 10k race was encouraing and we intend to build on that for next year. This year’s event will take place on Sunday 23rd September 2012.
The money raised from these events, goes directly towards the high cost of operating our air ambulance and we can only achieve that with your continued support and events like these.
We hope you will take the time to look around our website and see just some of the amazing things that people are doing to support us and that it inspires you to help us in whichever way you can. Thank you!
