Matthew Ley Thanks for taking the time to visit my fundraising page. On October 21st, I'll be participating in the Great South Run in Portsmouth. I'll be running the 10 mile route in aid of the Dorset and Somerset Air Ambulance.

In June 2005 (at the age of 8 years old), I sustained an injury to my elbow during a football game. Unfortunately, after initial treatment my elbow went on to become infected. This infection travelled through my blood stream eventually reaching my brain, leaving me in a critical condition. Thankfully, down to the hard work of the team at Frenchay hospital, I began to gradually recover after a month of treatment. If it wasn't for the incredible service of the Air Ambulance getting me to Frenchay so fast, I may not be here today. Therefore, it means a lot to me to do something to give back.

Dorset and Somerset Air Ambulance receives no direct Government or National Lottery funding and relies on public donations for support. Their operational costs are over £2 million a year and the approximate cost per mission is £2,500. Therefore any donations big or small would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks for you generous donations in advance! Matthew Ley
