In February this year my husband Dave, was involved in a serious road traffic accident which nearly took his life. Dave was air lifted by Dorset and Somerset Air Ambulance to Southmead Hospital for urgent treatment. He sustained many broken bones and required complex surgery to reconstruct his shattered pelvis and my own mental health has suffered as I have been diagnosed with PTSD as a result of the accident.

It was our 10th Wedding Anniversary in June and under normal circumstances, we would have completed a 22km trek across Dartmoor. However, this has not been possible this year due to Dave's injuries and ongoing rehabilitation. I am, therefore, challenging myself to complete a 50km walk (Dave's steps and mine) along the length and back of the Bridgwater and Taunton Canal on Saturday 2nd September, 2023.

Walking has always been something that Dave and I have enjoyed together, and a sponsored walk seems the most appropriate way to raise funds to show our appreciation to the Air Ambulance Service. Karen Roberts
