In April, our umpire Development Officer, Hayden Williams, collapsed at his home and was flown to hospital in a very serious condition and was subsequently diagnosed with locked-in-syndrome. Since then, he has made progress and is now no longer considered 'locked-in' but has a long recovery ahead of him. It is quite possible that the speed of his transfer to hospital was a factor in his subsequent improvement.

In a rural area such as Dorset, any sports player may suffer illness or injury and be a long distance from land-based help. In this situation assistance from the air is a life saver. To show our appreciation for the help Hayden has received, we invite cricketers and sports people to donate to the Dorset and Somerset Air Ambulance.
