Mark Parker Last year a good friend of ours was out cycling with a group of his friends on a cold December evening. He had previous competed in several Ironman competitions and a marathon or two, so a mere light cycle ride was nothing to be concerned about. BUT... unfortunately he suffered a massive heart attack and Cardiac Arrest that night(at the age of 42!!)

Dave was kept alive by CPR (for 20 minutes!!) by one of his friends. He was then attached to a defibrillator and shocked back into rhythm. After being brought back to life the Air Ambulance was dispatched to the scene and Dave was air lifted to hospital.

Without the support of friends, paramedics and the valuable crew of the Dorset and Somerset Air Ambulance, Dave would not be here today.

With this in mind, we decided to enter our first marathon together, and venue was going to be Dublin. We agreed this over a few beers one night and were sightly surprised at the amount of training that was required.

We have now all been training throughout this particularly hot summer, and taking in some injury's on the way.

We felt it was a fantastic opportunity to say thank you for the Air Ambulances' support and highlight the amazing role it plays within our society today

Each time the Air Ambulance is called out, it costs around £2,500.

Please support 3 middle aged men in Dublin!!! Mark Parker
