CAROLYN LYNESS After we had completed a 10k cycle ride in January 2017, my husband Nick Lyness suffered a heart attack. This was at a time when there were 110 calls for an ambulance. Neighbours who were ex paramedics came to help and administered CPR until an ambulance arrived. Dorset and Somerset Air Ambulance arrived sometime later landing in a nearby open space.
Sadly the heart attack proved to be fatal
However the attendance of the Air Ambulance team with their advanced equipment and expertise, along with the help given by the ambulance team and our neighbours meant that everything that could be done for Nick was done. This made a huge, positive difference to how my family and I have dealt with his death. We are a cycling family, having cycled from Land's End to John O' Groats when our youngest son was only 10 and so to take part in this event with my sons and their wives seems very appropriate.
