News / Events Coast to Coast Cycle Challenge Event Information for Cyclists This page provides important information for cyclists who have successfully entered and gained a place on our 2020 Coast to Coast Cycle Challenge, please take time to read the information before the event. You can also download the information included on this page via our Official 2020 Event Manual Start Times/Timetable Time Activity Location 07:00 hrs Registration opens in West Bay (Only for those using AM transport from West Bay to Watchet) Station Yard Car Park, West Bay 07:30 hrs Coach/Bike transport leaves West Bay to Watchet Station Yard Car Park, West Bay 09:00 hrs Registration opens in Watchet The Esplanade, Watchet (near statue of the Ancient Mariner) 11:00 hrs 55-mile challenge commences for accomplished and club riders Harbour Road, Watchet 11:15 hrs 55-mile challenge commences for enthusiastic riders Harbour Road, Watchet 14:00 hrs 11-mile challenge commences Royal Oak, Drimpton 17:00 hrs Coach/Bike transport leaves West Bay to Watchet West Bay Road Long Stay Car Park, West Bay 17:00 hrs Challenge ends Station Yard Car Park, West Bay Terms and Conditions Please make sure that you read through the Terms and Conditions. It is imperative that these are adhered to, to ensure a safe and happy event for all. Please note that all participants MUST wear a cycle helmet. In line with Point 10 of our Terms and Conditions, participants must ensure they are physically and mentally capable to taking part in this challenge, at the point of entry and on the day of the event. Should you, for any reason, be unable to take part in the event once you have registered please refer to Point 7 of our Terms and Conditions. Transport Due to numbers being very limited, if you have requested transport from West Bay to Watchet, but find that your circumstances change, please can you advise as soon as possible to enable us to reallocate by emailing: [email protected] Please note: Bikes will be transported on a lorry at the owners’ risk. Route The route will be well signposted - follow the yellow signs with black arrows showing the ‘DSAA’ logo. Cyclists can view the route by visiting: www.maps.ie/map-my-route/viewMap.php?route=113436 Pit Stops and Comfort Breaks Limited refreshments will be available at all pit stops which can be found at the following locations along the route: Watchet Harbour, Harbour Rd, Watchet, TA23 0AQ (nearest toilets opp. railway station) Bishops Lydeard Football Club, Cothelstone Rd, Bishops Lydeard, TA4 3BA Taunton Rugby Football club, Hyde Lane, Taunton, TA2 8BU Ilminster Ambulance Station, The Butts, Ilminster, TA19 0AX (please note there is one unisex toilet available) The Royal Oak, Bridport Road, Drimpton, DT8 3RD Station Yard Car Park, West Bay, DT6 4EW (nearest toilets West Bay Rd Car Park) Health and Safety You MUST obey the Highway Code. You MUST NOT use a mobile phone whilst cycling. Please stop to receive or make calls. On the day of the event only - if you need help or decide to withdraw from the event, please contact the C2C Helpline. The number will be provided in your final email before the event and on your event numbers which will be given to you at registration on the day. In the unlikely event of serious injury, please call 999 immediately. It is the participant’s responsibility to ensure that both they and their bikes are properly prepared for the challenge. It is recommended that water, energy or snack bars, mobile phone and a small amount of money are carried. Sponsorship and Online Fundraising Pages As this is a fundraising event, we strongly encourage all participants to raise additional funds through sponsorship. For those seeking to gain sponsorship on a face to face basis, you can download our Sponsorship Form Supporters can set up their own fundraising page on our website to raise funds for the Charity online. This is hugely beneficial to the Charity as we pay no commission fees to third party fundraising websites. With easy step by step instructions, you can set up your own fundraising page, personalise it and then promote it. SET UP MY C2C FUNDRAISING PAGE Parking Please ensure that any car being parked on the day of the challenge is parked legally and the relevant charge has been paid where applicable. Please ensure that you do not block driveways or access. Watchet: Please note that there will be limited parking on Harbour Road on the day of the event. Registration desks will be located at Watchet and West Bay If you have booked Coach/Bike transport from West Bay to Watchet – you will need to register at West Bay. All other participants will need to register at Watchet. C2C T-Shirts/Cycle Jerseys/Water Bottles will be available to purchase from the Watchet registration desk. Post Event Sports Massage We are pleased to confirm that SW Health & Wellbeing will be attending this year’s event again, to provide sports massages to cyclists at the end point of the challenge. To help relieve tired legs, aches or strains, cyclists can receive a 10-minute post event sports massage for £10, with 20% of all proceeds coming to DSAA!
