Walking their way to show support!

April 21, 2012

Natalie Read contacted us to inform us that she was fundraising for the DSAA.  Below she explains how and what she is doing ,to show her support…….

Everyone knows that time can pass awfully slowly when you have nothing to do. One slow day, in deepest darkest winter, we all decided we needed something to pass the time. We couldn’t think of a charity more fitting than the Air Ambulance to support. We thought that walking a long way, in between pubs, would be a fine way to pass the time and raise some money during the process.

As this brainwave washed over us all, the stark reality that we aren’t quite as able as we thought we were, hit home.  We had our sights set optimistically high but time and fitness constraints meant that a reality check was in order.

We ended up deciding that in 4 days we could walk the coastal path from Torquay Harbour to Lyme Regis then back to The Acorn, that’s 70 odd miles for those who are curious!

70 miles in 4 days isn’t for the faint hearted and none of us, in our “off the sofa” state, are really sure what we are embarking upon so we could have a bit of a shock, but that is irrelevant.  What really matters is that we raise as much money as we can for this good cause.  All of us can put the aching muscles, blisters and sun burn a side, knowing that we are raising money that could help save someone’s life.

Between April 26th and 29th we are walking between Torquay Harbour and The Acorn Inn. We would love you to sponsor us via our JustGiving page which you can by visiting:  http://www.justgiving.com/back-to-the-acorn
