A keen cyclist from Wells is flying to Verona in Italy and riding back to Wells on his bike to raise funds for the Dorset and Somerset Air Ambulance. Mark Wall has been cycling the roads of Somerset and South Wales for years and decided to try a longer road trip about five years ago.
“The idea was principally a challenge for myself before I was either too old or no longer able, so I decided my 50th year was a worthy milestone.  Initially my plan was to leave my house on my bike, & cycle to Italy via France, but after considering the logistics, & possible cycling temperatures, I am flying to Verona (Lake Garda) Italy, then cycling back to Wells, England.”
Mark still sees the trip as being principally for himself, but so many people were asking him how they could donate money that he decided he needed to nominate a charity to support. This was a relatively easy decision as on the first day of the 2012 Easter school holiday, Mark’s son Toby, a keen skate park user, had his lower leg broken in an accident. Taken from a series of real letters sent to a seriously ill friend, The Banana Bunch had Sheila’s family’s blessing to be turned into a book.  These wonderful stories chronicle the zany adventures of some rather inventive monkeys……..
About – The monkeys have a human friend called Sheila. Sheila is in hospital – and she hates the hospital food. The monkeys decide that something simply has to be done…
When their first attempt at delivering bananas to Sheila is thwarted the monkeys decide to form The Banana Bunch, a secret society dedicated to the delivery of delicious, health-giving bananas to Sheila and all the other unwell people at …the hospital.
Banana delivery proves, however, a little more tricky than they had expected…  That’s where we come in! Visit the Banana Bunch Facebook or Twitter pages to find out more!
