BUCKHAM FAIR
Aug 20 all-day

Get ready for Buckham Fair:  We are thrilled to have been nominated as Buckham Fair’s Charity of the Year for 2017. The event is truly spectacular and takes place on Sunday 20th August 2017.  Martin and Philippa Clunes, together with their organising committee, hold the Fair on an annual basis supporting local charities.  We were fortunate to be beneficiaries in 2011 and 2014 where £35,000 and £76,000 was raised which is absolutely incredible.  So, make sure you clock the date, it’s an event not to be missed and we look forward to seeing you all there!

Buckham Fair is a great, old-fashioned, vintage fair that takes place in Beaminster, Dorset, every year in August to raise funds for local charities. This family day out offers all visitors a wide variety of things to see and do, whether you enjoy the funfair, or browsing through some of the best local artisan creations, indulging in some of the finest local foods from the area, taking part in some of our many horse and dog show activities, or simply watching enjoying the spectacles in our main display ring – Buckham Fair has something for everyone.

Gates open at 09:00 Tickets: £7 Adults, children under 16 go free (Tickets only available from the gate on the day. No tickets sold in advance)

Wings & Wheels @ Henstridge Airfield
Aug 26 @ 10:00 am – 5:30 pm

This popular and well established event is now in its 18th year. It is still staged by the original team of volunteers and is justifiably proud of its continuing support for the airfield-based Air Ambulance. Given reasonable flying weather we expect to host well over 100 vintage, classic and current light aircraft. Our Classic Car paddock features everything from 1930s sports cars, military vehicles and modern Supercars. There is all-day catering from the Clubhouse and Marquee and our Barbecues are not to be missed. A special and unique feature is the lunch-time ‘Airpark Opening’; your chance to visit the aircraft for close-up photos and a chat with some of the pilots.

Subject to tasking the Air Ambulance…new this year…will also come over to ‘meet-and-greet’. We are delighted to announce that our regular BBMF ‘Fly-past Salute’ will have the newly overhauled LANCASTER escorted by TWO SPITFIRES. Once again our prices are unchanged at just £5 for adults and acc. u/16s free…carparks are also free.

For the latest information see us on www.dorsetcarclub.co.uk and follow us on Facebook. Vehicle and trade enquiries phone 07887 744163 (24hr messaging service). Don’t miss this friendly and memorable show!

Northam Farm Holiday Park Country & Western Festival @ Northam Farm Holiday Park
Sep 28 – Oct 8 all-day

Country and Western Festival in aid of DSAA!

Northam Farm Holiday Park is a busy family run holiday park in Brean Sands, Somerset catering for Touring Caravans, Motorhomes, Tents & Teepees!

Every year we hold a Country & Western Festival with a chosen charity, this year being yourselves. Everybody dresses up for the festival, many with authentic costumes ranging from high class ladies, saloon girls, surly cowboys with their stetsons, Mexicans with their big sombreros and Native American Indians, painted faces as well.

On Northam Farm itself we have a couple of market stalls, bouncy castles & a Buckin’ Bronco as well as a Wild West Re-enactment where you can watch a shootout or pose with the cowboys. They have a collection bucket for donations.

There are 3 free entertainment venues; The Seagull, The Staging Post (part of The Seagull) & Scotty’s Bar with top bands playing C&W music from lunch time until late at night. Line dancing is held from 11am until 4pm daily in The Seagull.

There is a C&W themed market known as The Traders Village located in a large marquee erected in the car park in front of The Seagull.

Charity collections are made throughout the festival.

We hold a Car Boot Sale on Northam Farm on Wednesday 4th October in the morning with the proceeds for the tables going to the charity and an Auction & Raffle at The Seagull on Thursday 5th October in the evening.

From experience, we have found that we raise more money if the charity can attend as much as possible to make a visible presence.

Last year, we raised £4500.00 for BARB (Burnham Area Rescue Boat) and hope to do the same for D&S Air Ambulance with the generosity of the Country & Westerners.

On Saturday 14th October we will hold an over 18s fancy dress party at The Seagull and those that do not dress up pay £1 which will also go towards D&S Air Ambulance.
