Become a Volunteer

“In every community, there is work to be done. In every nation, there are wounds to heal. In every heart, there is the power to do it” - Marianne Williamson

When we dream alone, it is only a dream, but when we dream together, it is the beginning of reality”. – Anonymous

The Dorset and Somerset Air Ambulance rely enormously on the work of our dedicated team of volunteers to support us.

It takes a very special person to give the ‘gift of time’ and we are always looking for new people to join us.

By becoming a Dorset and Somerset Air Ambulance volunteer you can expect to have an exceptional support team who will encourage and support you in every way.  We can also guarantee that you will meet some extraordinary people.  Some will have saved the lives of others, and others will have had their lives saved!

To make a difference – Call us today on: 01823 669604 or email: info@dsairambulance.org.uk

We would like to pay a special tribute to those volunteers that help us, without them, the charity would not be where it is today.

My Story, by Mavis Bennett

Being a Dorset and Somerset Air Ambulance volunteer is very rewarding.  It’s usually an event that happens in your life that makes you want to volunteer.

For me, it was back in 1998 that my sons best friend was air lifted to Frenchay Hospital and then transferred to the Cardiff Burns Unit with severe burns to his body, he lived for 11days and then sadly lost his life.

I started fundraising for the Dorset and Somerset Air Ambulance from that time on – holding table top sales, having a collection box and wherever I saw an air ambulance stall with merchandise, I always purchased something.

In 2006 my parents passed away within six months of one another and instead of floral wreaths we collected donations, again for the air ambulance.  It was then that I made the decision to become an official volunteer.

The role of a volunteer varies greatly, depending on how much time you have to donate and the areas which you would like to get involved in.  There is no pressure, you work as much or as little as you wish.

My role is varied, enjoyable and very rewarding, I get to meet people from all walks of life and its surprising how you find out how many people have used the Air Ambulance or have relatives who have been air lifted once you start talking to them.

Why don’t you ‘Make a difference’ today and join our team.
