Burtle Silver Band Supports DSAA!

Air AmbulanceAt their Thursday evening band practice the Burtle Silver Band entertained a special guest from the Dorset and Somerset Air Ambulance. Jonathan Gillams and Sandra Healey from the band were joined by Roz Dolding of the Edington Village Voices Choir to present Colin Thomas from the Dorset and Somerset Air Ambulance with a cheque for £668.45 - and also treated him to a behind the scenes view of a brass band going through the rigours of a rehearsal.

Almost a year ago the Burtle Silver Band chose to support the Dorset and Somerset Air Ambulance through collections made at the fetes, bandstands, seaside promenades and concerts that they played around the region. One of the stand out concerts of the year was a joint event with Roz Dolding’s Village Voices choir at the Edington Village Hall. That event was an absolute sell out and also raised £355 for the charity. Another successful event for the band was the Sing Sankey held at the Westfield Church in Bridgwater, raising £360. This collection had already been given to the Air Ambulance, bringing the total annual donation to over £1,000.
