Members of Somerset Advanced Motorcyclists (SAM) visited the Charity’s office in Wellington recently to present the proceeds from their annual Pancake Express.

Every year, members of SAM come together for a motorcycle ride on Somerset’s roads which ends with a scrumptious pancake breakfast in aid of charity, known as the Pancake Express. Although the event is a firm favourite, the group also provide a range of technical training, host various bike-related events and organise over fifty rides for their members and guests throughout the year.

Following an early morning start from Langport, riders enjoyed a two-hour motorcycle ride on Somerset’s beautiful and varied roads, before returning for a hearty pancake breakfast which raised £200 for the Charity. This is the fourth year that SAM have raised funds for Dorset and Somerset Air Ambulance with the Pancake Express. The event has raised over £500, reflecting the importance of the Charity to SAM members as well as their love of pancakes! Samantha Smith, Fundraising Support Administrator enjoyed meeting members of the group and to receive the recent funds raised.

Bashford Lodge 30.01.16 058Volunteer Linda Battle recently received a cheque on behalf of the Charity from Quantock Trekking. The company launched their ‘Quantock Trekking Riding Holidays’ earlier this year and invited the John Lewis Riding Club to be the first guests to stay at their luxury holiday chalet Bashford Lodge, which is located in the heart of the picturesque village of West Bagborough on the Quantock Hills.

After a wonderful weekend away, the Riding Club were delighted to find out that Quantock Trekking would cover the cost of their stay. As a thank you for the hospitality, they offered to make a donation back to Quantock Trekking which was subsequently donated to Dorset and Somerset Air Ambulance.
