John Wells Classic Bike Run raises £1,400!

November 30, 2015 by Lara Lucas

bike runThe John Wells Classic Bike Run has been running for 19 years. The event was formed after John was involved in a serious road incident on the M4 in the late 1990’s and was airlifted to hospital with less than a 10 per cent chance of survival.  He defied the odds and pulled through.

John’s parents, Helen and Robin together with his sister Sarah Gray organise the event with help from many other family and friends. Over 100 motorcycle enthusiasts take part and ride the brilliant 80 mile route which sets off from Bridport. The day is a great occasion for everyone involved and includes morning refreshments, a raffle and tasty BBQ at a local pub.

When the event first began, proceeds were donated to Poole General Hospital as they helped John with his recovery. Dorset and Somerset Air Ambulance was formed in 2000 and it was then that the family decided that they wanted the event to raise funds for the Charity which could be needed at any time within their local community.

Over the years, the event has raised between £750 - £1,500 per year; with this year’s event generating £1,400. What wonderful support, for which we are very grateful.
