Bookstall Bonanza

October 22, 2015 by Lara Lucas

Staff and customers at the Co-operative Food Store in Bridport have raised £7,000 for Dorset and Somerset Air Ambulance by selling unwanted and second-hand books.

The store has a bookstall bursting with a variety of genres that have been donated by staff and customers. All books are available to purchase for the small sum of 50p and many of these have included new releases and best-sellers. With a fresh instalment of books being introduced frequently, many customers and staff have brought their books back after reading them in exchange for more. The simple yet popular fundraising initiative was thought of by a member of staff working at the store. Since its launch in 2010, it has raised over £30,000 for the Charity!

Store Manager Rob Garland presented Fundraising Manager Tina Viksna with the money raised when she visited the store recently. He said: “We are very proud of everyone who works here and for the support that we have received from the community. The people of Bridport are very passionate about the air ambulance.” Our thanks go to the Bridport community and staff working at the Co-operative Food Store for their generosity and support over the years.
