Burnham on sea motor clubOn Friday 26th September 2014 the Dorset and Somerset Air Ambulance landed on Wells Cathedral Green at midday as part of National Air Ambulance Week.  The early morning mist cleared in time and the spectacular sight of the arrival of the bright yellow helicopter was seen coming from behind the cathedral.

During the visit, Burnham on Sea Motor Club Ltd presented a cheque for £500.00 to the crew, raised from the Burnham on Sea Motor Club's annual Andy Simm Memorial Classic Car Tour which was held on Sunday 6th July. The tour started with bacon butties or toasted tea cakes being served with tea or coffee for breakfast in the Abbey Tea Rooms in Glastonbury.  The owner of the Tea Rooms, Mary Parker, always insists that the funds raised from the breakfast is donated to the Dorset and Somerset Air Ambulance.  She has supported the charity for a number of years.  Together with Mary's donation of £150.00, Burnham on Sea Motor Club were able to present a cheque for £500.00 in front of the helicopter during the fly-in.

Shortly after this presentation, the crew was called out to a job, so everyone was able to see it take off and experience the amazing down-draft of the helicopter as it took to the skies over Wells.
