Cheque Presentation to DSAATIM Hussey, of Wootton Fotzpaine, near Lyme Regis, raised more than £2,000 for charity by running the Bournemouth Marathon earlier this year.  Mr Hussey, who worked for Wessex Water, completed the race in three hours and 55 minutes, an impressive time for his first marathon.

He decided to donate the total funds of £2,234.34 to the Dorset and Somerset Air Ambulance, knowing people locally whose lives had been saved by the service.

He said: “I was amazed by the generosity of all the people that sponsored the air ambulance. I would like to take this opportunity to say a huge thank you to everyone that helped me through this run, especially Ros who kept pushing me in training and getting most of my sponsors for me. Thank you also to Rebecca Loader the physio for making sure my legs were up to it.

“It has taken me up to now to collect all of the money in what was more of a marathon than doing the run itself! In the end I have managed to raise a whopping £2234.34 which has now been handed to the Dorset and Somerset Air Ambulance.

“Thank you very much everyone.”
