  1. Somerset Levellers recruiting!

    MEMBERS from the Somerset Levellers have presented two new bikes to a Sedgemoor nursery at the Bicycle Chain in Bridgwater.  The cycling group donated two bikes to the Honey Bears Day Care Nursery in Puriton.

    The riders cycle across the Somerset Levels every Friday evening and raise money for the Dorset and Somerset Air Ambulance and local organisations.

    They raised £417 in August on their annual bank holiday charity ride. (more…)


  2. Manchester United tickets send everyone BONKERS!

    Team Bonkers who earlier this year attempted to swim the English Channel are ending a magnificent fundraising year with a very special treat.

    Two tickets for Manchester Utd vs Sunderland (game takes place on Saturday 5th December 2011) will be raffled at the Five Ways Public House in Charminster, Bournemouth.

    Five Ways landlady, Carole Mansell was delighted to be able to help and agreed to sell tickets in a bid to raise as much money for the Air Ambulance as possible. (more…)

  4. Get ‘on your bike’ and cycle Coast to Coast for Air Ambulance!

    Dorset and Somerset Air Ambulance have announced that their 2nd annual Coast to Coast (C2C) Cycle Challenge will take place on Sunday 20th May 2012.

    Last year, hundreds of cyclists took part and rode the equivalent of half way around the world to raise funds for the life-saving Charity.

    Not designed as a race, the event involves cycling through some of Dorset and Somerset’s most beautiful countryside. You can expect a mixture of quiet back roads, interspersed with some very demanding climbs and equally hairy descents. It definitely has something to offer for everyone! (more…)


  5. Quantock Pony Fair

    Many thanks to the organisers of the Quantock Pony Fair which took place last weekend.

    The Dorset and Somerset Air Ambulance collected a fabulous total of £659.90 from the events car parking.  We are also beneficiaries of the sale of two ponies that were sold on the day.

  6. Smith Family Charity Ball

    The Smith Family are organising their Annual Charity Ball on Friday 2nd March 2012 at Freshwater Holiday Park, Burton Bradstock in Bridport.

    The event is in aid of the Dorset and Somerset Air Ambulance, Harefield Transplant Club, Dorset Renal Unit and others.

  7. Fundraising event in aid of SAVES

    SAVES is a registered charity that provides a network of doctors to support the ambulance service in Somerset. The doctors have specialised training in the emergency management of trauma and medical conditions outside hospital. They respond to incidents at the request of ambulance control in their own cars, appropriately equipped with lights and sirens.

    The SAVES charity is organising a Grand Dinner and Charity Auction on Friday 18th November 2011 at Somerset County Cricket Club.

  9. A note from the Rally Boys!

    Dear Dorset and Somerset Air Ambulance,

    Rally de France was an incredible weekend.  We drove a safe event on really difficult stages to ensure that we finished.  We were really happy with 32nd place overall and we came 6th in our class which was good!

    The car ran well all weekend and we only lost one wing mirror which happened when we got too close to some of the steel pins that are used to try and stop corner cutting. (more…)


  10. Lisa conquers Kilimanjaro

    Local deli & cafe owner Lisa Salter has just returned from climbing the world’s highest free standing mountain which is also the highest mountain in Africa, Mount Kilimanjaro – 5,895m /19,341ft.

    Lisa, 32 owner of the award winning Pumpkin Delicatessen & Cafe in Wedmore, Somerset set herself a big challenge back in February when she decided to do something different with her summer holiday this year.

    On September 9th she started a 7 day climb of Kilimanjaro and finally reached the summit at 6.45 am on Wednesday September 14th. (more…)
