The Dorset Motorcycle Club would like to welcome all bikers to their annual Mistletoe Charity Motorbike Ride being held on Sunday 18th December 2011 in aid of the Dorset and Somerset Air Ambulance.
Bikers will assemble on Swanage Sea Front at 11.00 am for the ride back to The Sandford Labour Club for the raffle and Free hot soup which has kindly been provided by the Labour Club and the Arrowheads Trike Club.
The run is open to all powered two and three wheelers and is free to enter with a suggested minimum donation of £5 per bike. (more…)

Dorset and Somerset Air Ambulance (DSAA) have paid tribute to the family of Lloyd Fouracre and the Western Gazette newspaper during a ceremony at its Henstridge airbase today.
The ceremony formed part of the official launch of a high-tech moving map system which is now fully functional on the Charity’s helicopter.
Dorset and Somerset Air Ambulance is the first and only Air Ambulance in the UK to be using this particular system, which combines the key elements of both aviation and road GPS systems to drastically reduce the amount of time spent handling charts in the cockpit, allowing both the pilot and navigator to concentrate on the job in hand. Dorset and Somerset Air Ambulance would like to wish Tim and Steve Jones of Formula Cars based in Wellington, the very best of luck next week when they take part in the Rally de France.
They are leaving with their Dorset and Somerset Air Ambulance branded, Ford Fiesta R2 rally car tomorrow to take part in the French round of the World Rally Championship.
With only a few days to go to the start of the rally, the brothers are excited about the challenge ahead. (more…)

Dorset and Somerset Air Ambulance have paid tribute to hundreds of runners and walkers who helped raise vital funds for the Charity last weekend.
Supporters of all ages and abilities put their best foot forward to take part in the third annual Trickey Warren Trek on Sunday September 18th and although the weather tried to dampen the mood, organisers have deemed the event a success.
The Trek which is held at Trickey Warren Farm, Culmhead, a former Second World War fighter airfield on the Blackdown Hills, is an individual and team running event consisting of a very challenging 10k and 4k race and a 2k ‘fun run’, suitable for all ages and abilities. (more…)

Ever thought of challenging yourself for charity? It’s amazing how many of you do! We hear many stories of people who climb mountains, jump out of aeroplanes, or trek through the desert to raise funds for a cause close to their heart.
This however, is the first time we have heard of someone attempting to run 60 marathons, in 60 weeks at the age of 60. Mad? You decide……..

THEY’LL be giving it some welly in Wellington at a world championship with a difference this month.
Traders in the town are preparing to showcase everything good Wellington has to offer by organising the World Wellington Boot Throwing Championship on Saturday, September 17.
The playing fields at Court Fields Community School will be transformed into a boot-iful arena for the competition from noon to 6pm. (more…)

The Vine Inn in Pamphill, nr Wimborne has announced the date for their annual ‘Pumpkin and Conker’ day.
This unique and very special event will be held on Sunday 2nd October 2011 between 12 pm and 3 pm.
You can be guaranteed of a fun-filled afternoon and a packed garden of merry folk, playing the old fashioned game of conkers. Pumpkins of ALL shapes and sizes are entered into a competition with prizes for the heaviest pumpkin and winning conker being awarded on the day. (more…)

Antony Lamb is taking part in the London to Paris cycle on the 18-22nd April 2012 in aid of the Dorset and Somerset Air Ambulance.
The preparation and support needed for such a challenge is immense, especially as Anthony has not ridden a bike since he was about 13 years of age.
Two years ago, Anthony’s father suffered a severe heart attack. The Dorset and Somerset Air Ambulance arrived on scene and swiftly took him to hospital where he underwent an operation. (more…)

The Dorset and Somerset Air Ambulance Flight for Life Lottery was launched in 19 December 2000 by Jeremy Beadle and, since its launch, it has gone from strength to strength. It is one of the easiest and most sustainable ways of showing your support. It costs £1 a week to join.
