Thousands of families and animal lovers poured into Buckham Fair on Sunday 21st August. Everyone watched with delight as the horse, pony and dog competitions began. By lunch-time the food stalls were buzzing and with the amazing view across the countryside, there was no better place to be.
Martin Clunes, arrived early and spent all day mingling with the crowds. He judged and took part in many of the competitions. He also posed for
pictures and signed autographs for donations to the Dorset and Somerset Air Ambulance.
The event was visited by people from all walks of life and for many different reasons. The Dorset and Somerset Air Ambulance yellow gazebo became a focal point for those that wanted to know more information about the Charity and for those that had been picked up by the Air Ambulance personally. Congratulations to Penny and Barry Goldsmith who are our Lottery Grand Summer Draw winners. They were presented with their Jackpot winning cheque for £1,000, at their home in Verwood today!
Penny said that their winnings were already spent as they are currently building an extension to their bungalow.
“I am sure we can both have a little treat as well. Barry would like a day’s fishing and I think a little shopping trip is in order,” she said. (more…)

The Blackdown Hills will be alive with runners and walkers this autumn as hundreds of people help to raise vital funds for the Dorset and Somerset Air Ambulance.
The Trickey Warren Trek will take place on Sunday 18th September at Trickey Warren Farm, Culmhead, a former Second World War righter airfield between Chard and Taunton in Somerset.
The event offers a mix of 10k, 4k, and 2k routes for serious and fun runners alike, and this year there will be a new Forest Trail route to replace the 4k perimeter track. (more…)

Taunton & Pickeridge Golf Club men’s Captain Roy Mitchell will be attempting a 72-hole golf challenge on Monday August 22nd in aid of his Charity of the year, the Dorset and Somerset Air Ambulance.
Each round played will be a three ball with a couple of members from each section of the Club. The challenge will take place as the sun rises at 6.10am and continue until it sets at 8.20pm.
It will be a big challenge for Roy to complete this task and we wish him the best of luck! (more…)

One of the main attractions of the day at this year’s Dunster Country Fair, was the appearance of the Dorset &Somerset Air Ambulance.
This proved the ideal opportunity to present both the Dorset & Somerset Air Ambulance and the Devon Air Ambulance with monies raised from a Charity race held at the Minehead Harriers and West Somerset Hunt Point to Point earlier in the year.
The Charity Race was held in memory of Gary Bradley, a former whipper-in to the Minehead Harriers, who was airlifted by Devon Air Ambulance. Masters and hunt staff representing seven different hunts took part in the race. (more…)

MAYOR of Taunton Deane, Cllr Steve Brooks, has welcomed representatives from his two chosen charities that will benefit from fund-raising efforts over his Mayoral year.
The Dorset and Somerset Air Ambulance and the League of Friends of Musgrove Park Hospital have been selected by Cllr Brooks who values health-related good causes highly as both he and his wife, Diana, worked as nurses.
He joined Bill Sivewright, Chief Executive from the Air Ambulance and Liz Shirley-Smith and Peter Renshaw from the Friends to talk through potential fundraising initiatives over coffee in the Mayor’s Parlour. (more…)
