  2. Charity begins at home for CREEDS

    June 27, 2011

There are hundreds of reasons why we love living in the country, especially in the summer when the weather is good. The quiet country lanes are wonderful to wander down. The rolling hills and Jurassic Coast provide us all with plenty of space to relax and exercise.

But a downside of rural life is that when an accident or emergency occurs and we can’t always get an ambulance out to help fast enough. The Dorset and Somerset Air Ambulance is therefore a much loved local Charity because it saves lives across our countryside, rescuing people in remote spots.

Creeds the Printers are located out in “the sticks” at the tine village of Broadoak, near Bridport. Owners Marilyn and Harry Harrison know that the Air Ambulance is a hugely valuable asset for country folk. Fortunately they have not had to use it for their fourteen staff who work in their beautifully located rural printers but that doesn’t make them any less grateful for the resource that is there if they do. 6. Bag a Bra Week for Air Ambulance

    June 17, 2011

The paramedics and pilots at the Dorset and Somerset Air Ambulance are urging women in the region to donate unwanted bras to help fund their essential lifesaving service.  The 4th annual Bag A Bra week will be hosted by Bournemouth’s Castlepoint Shopping Park from 20 – 26 June.  Special collection bins will be found along the two shopping malls and a 540 meter washing line of bras strung across the walkways will create awareness to the recycling campaign.

Bag A Bra week will not only fundraise for the service that can fly up to 8 emergency missions a day, but benefit women in developing countries who do not have the money or selection of bras offered by retailers in the UK.

Annette Plaistow-Trapaud, Fundraising Co-ordinator for the Dorset and Somerset Air Ambulance, said all donations to Bag A Bra week would be appreciated: “We are grateful to women in the area who will help us by recycling their unwanted bras.   We would also urge everyone to continue to use our clothing banks at Castlepoint and other sites in the region.” (more…)
