  5. ‘A perfect evening’ in memory of Sam

    May 26, 2011

Family and friends of a young Shepton Mallet father who tragically died two years ago have held a fundraising evening in his memory.

Sam died in January 2009 after a freak hailstorm hit the car he was driving, sending it crashing off the A361 road between Pilton and East Compton and into a tree.

His wife Faye, who was eight months pregnant, suffered a ruptured placenta as well as other injuries, and their daughter Bethan had an injured foot. Faye was flown by air ambulance to hospital and the vital minutes that were saved have been credited with saving both her life and that of her son Isaac, who was safely delivered at hospital shortly after. 6. From Home to Rome

    May 17, 2011

Russ, Adam and John Lennon, recently set off on an epic cycle ride from Bournemouth to Rome in aid of the Dorset and Somerset Air Ambulance.  Annette Plaistow-Trapaud (DSAA fund-raising co-ordinator) and Bill Sivewright (Chief Executive Officer) were thrilled to be asked to send them off, along with many of their friends and family.   The weather was awful; it was blowing a gale and pouring with rain!   At least they had the hope of the good weather to come.

From Bournemouth Pier, they headed to Boscombe and towards Portsmouth harbour to catch the ferry to France.  They seem to be having a great time and their spirits are high.

Below are a few quotes from the daily blog.  This is updated regularly so you can keep up-to-date with their adventure.  Just visit: www.hometorome.co.uk (more…)
