  4. Lady Captain's Charity Day at Taunton Vale Golf Club

    Lyn Gridley, Ladies Captain at Taunton Vale Golf Club has nominated the Dorset and Somerset Air Ambulance as her Charity of the Year.

    An extremely successful fundraising day was held on 15th September 2010 and a fun day was had by all.

  5. New CEO to lead Air Ambulance Charity

    BillDorset and Somerset Air Ambulance (DSAA) has appointed a new Chief Executive Officer to lead the Charity into an exciting future.

    Bill Sivewright, a former Army helicopter commander, assumed the appointment on Friday (September 10), taking over from Adrian Wray, who has stepped down after successfully helping the Charity to relocate its helicopter base to an excellent new facility at Henstridge, Dorset.

    Bill said: “I am very much looking forward to working with the excellent team of staff and volunteers of Dorset and Somerset Air Ambulance and helping them to develop the first class service it provides for the people of both counties.” (more…)

  7. Bridport Co-operative and its customers raise £1,884

    A SIMPLE idea of displaying customer’s unwanted books and videos in Bridport Co-operative has helped raise £1,884.

    As a result the Sea Road North store handed over a cheque to the Dorset and Somerset Air Ambulance after just ten weeks of running the scheme.

    Retail Skills Trainer Lyn Williams saw the idea in another store and initiated the scheme which is supervised by Trena Parker. Customers are bringing in books, videos and DVDs they no longer require which are displayed on tables near the cheque out tills and people are encouraged to take anything they fancy in exchange for a 50p donation per item.   9. Medallist Liz To Lead Treadmill Challenge

    CastleP  Peter Matthews and Liz YellingLocal marathon runner, double Olympian and Commonwealth medallist Liz Yelling has challenged Peter Matthews, General Manager at Castlepoint, to take a 2 mile treadmill challenge at the shopping park starting at 1pm on Friday, 3 September.

    The event to be held outside Marks & Spencer at Castlepoint is to encourage children to participate in the second Castlepoint sponsored Fun Run to be held at Bournemouth’s Littledown Centre on Sunday, 26 September to raise funds for the Dorset and Somerset Air Ambulance.

    Peter, aged 60, says that it will be a privilege to run a few miles alongside the very dedicated athlete who can often be seen in training running the length of the promenade between Poole and Hengistbury head – and back – in less than 2 hours. (more…)
