  1. Polo Club raises £5,000 Air Ambulance

    A charity champagne tea party held by Vaux Park Polo Club in March has raised a remarkable £5000 for the Dorset and Somerset Air Ambulance (DSAA).

    The money was raised through an auction at the club’s end of winter season polo tournament, sponsored by Clydesdale Bank. The final total included promises such as a hot air balloon ride for two, a break for four at Cottesmore Lodges in Sussex, salmon fishing on the river Dart, and other donations were made by Classic Canes, Lanes Hotel, Hiho Jewellery, and Juals Clothing.

    In recognition of this fund-raising achievement the Air Ambulance invited Tim Vaux of Vaux Park and Graham Poulton, Partner of Clydesdale Bank, to visit the DSAA airbase in Hentsridge Airfield on the Dorset/Somerset border. (more…)


  2. BCA Bridgwater Charity Auction a Success!

    bcaBCA Bridgwater, Somerset staged a special fund-raising sale on Thursday 27th May with a charity auction to raise funds for Dorset & Somerset Air Ambulance.

    The football-themed event featured over 400 cars and commercial vehicles from Citroen, Fiat, Alfa Romeo and Alphabet, ranging from city cars to prestige models and even including a road legal replica Citroen C4 Rally Car.

    The event raised a total of £3,120 for Dorset & Somerset Air Ambulance, with £1,180 donated by Citroen, Alfa Romeo and Fiat based on the vehicles they sold on the day, with £640 from BCA’s auction of football memorabilia, £1,100 from the BCA raffle and £200 donated by Assured Valeting who operate at BCA Bridgwater.   3. Dorset bras give Air Ambulance a lift

    bag a braWomen across Dorset are being asked to use their unwanted bras to support the Dorset and Somerset Air Ambulance (DSAA) next week.

    The Charity’s annual Bag a Bra week runs from June 21 to 27 and this year is also being backed by AFC Bournemouth football legend Steve Fletcher.

    Unwanted bras can be taken during the week to special donation bins located outside the stores of Marks and Spencer, Asda, and Sainsbury’s, at Castlepoint Shopping Park, Bournemouth. (more…)


  4. TRAC Supports Air Ambulance

    TRACTaunton Retailers Against Crime (TRAC) members have got to together to support their charity partners, the Dorset and Somerset Air Ambulance and the Burnham Area Rescue Boat. Five TRAC members took part in the Taunton Half Marathon and the Winchester Arms have been hosting quarterly pub quizzes. To date, £624 has been raised which is split equally between both.

    TRAC co-ordinator Andy Sharman said that ” TRAC and our members are proud to be associated with the DSAA and BARB. Both organisations help save lives locally and rely solely upon donations to enable them to do their vital work. We are pleased to be able to give them our support and would like to thank those involved for assisting us in our fundraising.”

  6. Endurance GB's Phoenix Ride – 22nd August 2010

    Endurance GB invites you to take part in a charity event in aid of the Dorset & Somerset Air Ambulance at Endurance GB’s  Phoenix Ride.

    • Classes Available
    There are two fund-raising classes, a 20 mile route (Class 7, entry fee £20) down to Wimbleball Lake and a shorter 11 mile route (Class 8, entry fee £15) over Kennisham Hill and the surrounding countryside.  Both routes use private tracks and fields that are not normally open to horse riders, taking in some beautiful views.

    • Venue
    The venue for The Phoenix Ride is on the east side of Exmoor, about 4 miles west of Wheddon Cross on the B3224 . This venue provides easy access from the road and ample parking for both trailers and lorries of any size.

    • Other Facilities
    There will be tea, coffee and hot & cold snacks available both before and after the ride.  Styles Ice Creams will be on sale from 2.00pm in the afternoon.  There will also be a photographer on the course. (more…)
